3 Tips for Creating A Fruitful Registry
This isn’t my first go round with a baby registry, however I feel as though this time around there are tweaks to the game. New technology, new websites and a pandemic have changed the way baby registries work. There are also tried and true thoughts to consider when creating registries that I will share in case this is your first time. I will suggest places to go, how their registries work and how to save a few bucks on your list.
3 Tips for Creating A Fruitful Registry
Register at multiple places.
There are countless reasons why you should register at multiple places. First of all every baby store may not have every baby product that you want. For example, Target may be the only retailer that carries a particular rocker. If you don’t make a list at that location, then chances are no one can purchase that item for you. The inventory at Buy Buy Baby is amazingly large, however the store locations are limited. Folks may not drive there to get items from there or if they aren't comfortable with online ordering would prefer to go with another retailer. Read: Make it easy for folks to buy your bundle of joy a gift. Finally, many retailers offer free grab bags of products samples ,coupons, and even a discount on the remaining items of your registry. It's a great way to learn about new products and get some discounts on some favorite products.
Register the same items at multiple places.
Again, if someone prefers one place over another they will have the option to see your full list at any location. Don’t worry about duplicates, that’s what the gift receipt and registry is for. You can easily take back to the store an exchange for another product on your list. Besides, some of the things you may need are multiples of anyway- as I am still finding lost pacifiers from my oldest under furniture and hidden in closets. Sometimes its easier just to pop open a new container to avoid calling in the FBI for a full manhunt of your home for a pacifier prior to a meltdown.
Update often
If you see that people are buying up things on your registry add more things to the list. Add more quantity of items and also add other items forgotten on the list. This is also helpful when people buy things off your registry but from other locations that you don't have a registry with. For example there are only so many baby rockers you will need (I'm thinking 1-2). So if two friends purchased rockers then that should be removed from all registries and add something else that can be purchased. Add items as you develop more ideas for the nursery or additional clothes that you think are cute. Also, don't forget to add items that you may not need in later stages of the baby’s life like feeding tools, toys for older infants, books, etc.
Full transparency moment: Buy Buy Baby is my favorite baby store. They have special parking near the door for expectant mothers and newborn mothers. They have the best goody bag, a large selection of baby products, and their employees are very knowledgeable about the products and can give great advice on which product will work best for you. I'll share two of my lists to get some registry ideas 😉
