I Found a Safe Nail Salon...

One activity that I really enjoyed during this shelter in place was a pop up nail salon at my parent’s house. My niece brought a ton of nail polish colors and my mom had the nail trays and various other tools, so it felt like we were really in a salon. Normally this would not happen because I would just go to the salon and get it done and would take Beanie as a mommy daughter date. However, the way this Rona is set up, I won't be in anyone’s nail shop for a long time.

It was Beanie’s first time- so it made me think about the pictures of the first time my nails were polished. My mom first polished my nails as an infant. She was eager to display my girlyness since I had short hair and many thought I was a boy despite having a dress on. I also had my ears pierced at an early age for the same reason.

It was an energizing and powerful moment to have three generations of ladies sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather and connecting in a new way. My niece was the nail tech. Beanie smeared her nails a couple of times and picked off her nails stickers but still proudly displayed her chipped nails to everyone EVERY SINGLE DAY. Despite wanting the threat of Coronavirus to be gone, I do appreciate moments like this that pandemic has allowed to happen.

Are y’all going to nail salons or are you now doing these services for yourself? What special moments have you experienced due to the pandemic that might not have happened otherwise?
