A Bride’s Redemption: 3 proposals, 2 weddings, 1 guy
Let me take you wayyy back to the start of it all. I met Tiffers (my personal nickname for her) back in early 2000s. We were in college and were dating twin brothers at the time. I actually met her older brother first- he ran for student senate president and was well known and respected on campus. So when I first met her, she felt familiar. Anyways, she was introduced as my then boyfriend’s (now hubby) brother's new girlfriend. Little did we know we would be inseparable for years to come. Even though she broke up with him, we continued being close. She’s the type of friend who will get you to do some crazy thing and then ask, ”But did you die though?” JK however she is one of my most adventurous friend who always challenges me to think outside the box despite our later unintentional groupthink life changes. We graduated from University of Cincinnati not once but twice- getting a masters in the same program, Community Planning. Later living in the same apartment complex-twice and not planned either time, then buying a home around the same time, then belly buddies. Our kids are 3 months apart.
I was in her first wedding so it’s only right I’m in her second wedding for the world to see.
I’m not sure if I was on camera in the final edit but if so I’m hoping they caught a shot with my shoes because they were 🔥🔥🔥!!! (A post dedicated to those shoes to follow.)
So let me give you a quick backstory of the lovebirds:
Marcus and Tiffany met at UC at Racial Awareness Pilot Program (RAPP) retreat. She asked him if he wanted to share a blanket and they have been sharing this thing called life ever since. Fun Fact: I went to elementary school with Marcus- there is far less than six degrees of separation in Cincinnati.
Proposal number 1:
Marcus was going to propose at the Museum Center in Cincinnati but was so nervous that he didn’t propose until the second part of the date at the Newport on the Levee. He got down on one knee and dropped the ring because he was shaking so bad. Tiffany said yes.
Wedding number 1:
“We were super broke. I was in Grad school and Marcus was in the early phases of building his career. But we loved each other and wanted to get married anyways. The only thing I loved was our venue”, Tiffany reminiscences. I was a bridesmaid in her wedding and enjoyed it and even shed a tear. My favorite moment of her first wedding was her picture with Marcus. The fire alarm went off in between the ceremony and reception due to a guest smoking inside the venue. The venue was evacuated and the fire department showed up which provided an unusual wedding photo backdrop. One of the most unique wedding photos I’ve ever seen.
Proposal number 2:
Marcus said that he was attending a work trip in Detroit and wanted Tiffany to tag along. She didn’t know that Marcus had everyone in on the surprise including her job, hairdresser, and personal trainer. Once there, he let her in on the secret that they were going to a Peabo Bryson concert which is Tiffany’s favorite artist. After the concert not only did Tiffany meet Peabo, Marcus proposed to her again in front of Peabo. This proposal was leading up to a vow renewal for their 10 year anniversary.
Proposal number 3:
So this time Marcus took Tiffany to a park. The film crew was there to shoot some video of Noelle playing in the park, so Tiffany thought. They were actually there to catch Marcus 3rd proposal on camera and Tiffany’s reaction to finding out she was getting the wedding of her dreams created by Thai Nguyen (fashion designer), Jeremiah Brent (interior designer), and Gabrielle Bertaccini (chef) the new trio of new Netflix series Say I Do.
*Cue Netflix trailer for Say I Do*
Wedding number 2:
So while I can’t talk about all the fabulous details now- you’ll have to watch the episode TODAY (their wedding is the first episode) and check back on my blog for more behind the scenes details in a later post.
But here’s a few quick details I can share:
Tiffany’s secret Pinterest board was used as inspiration for the whole wedding. That sneaky Marcus😉.
“From the ambiance, food, and the dress. Thai, Gabrielle, and Jeremiah made sure that Marcus and I were represented in the wedding. They also paid tribute to those that I had lost and couldn’t be there.” Tiffany gushed.
There is another face that will be familiar to viewers. “The person who did my hair has touched black royalty”, Tiffany exclaimed. You will have to watch the episode to see who it is😉
Not only did Say I Do create the wedding of her dreams they also sent the love birds to a nicely decorated hotel with champagne and their favorite treats for the evening. While they have not had a honeymoon for either wedding yet when they do I suggest Netflix catches the film because it’s bound to be an adventure.
