An Engaging Weekend

May 25, 2014 is my engagement anniversary. So let me tell you the story of my engagement. As a native Cincinnatian, I thoroughly enjoy going to Taste of Cincinnati. It's my favorite holiday of the year. It's an annual food festival that takes place in the streets on Cincinnati Memorial day Weekend. Restaurants and Food trucks in the city offer 4-5 items in small portions to “taste”. This particular year, Justen decided to propose to me at the Taste of Cincinnati. I spent the day in food bliss- eating corn on the cob, thai food and strawberry shortcake.  As we walked back to the car, Justen asked me why this is my favorite event and if I could see myself bringing my future kids here every year. As I babble on about how much I love this event and how much fun we had, Justen says I would love to bring our kids here. And then a few parking spots from our spot, Justen stops and gets on one knee and asks to marry me. I turned around, and was speechless. For those who know me know that this never happens. Like no words could leave my mouth. We have been dating for a while so I knew he would be proposing, just didn't know it would happen here. I was quiet for what seemed like an eternity because Justen asked me again before I said yes. After saying yes, people parking their cars promptly honked and yelled congrats. It was the Best Taste of Cincinnati ever. I had to post this today because I didn't announce my proposal via social media until the next day. I waited because I wanted to polish my nails first before posting the traditional hand pic. Call me vain but my nails were looking raggedy and I probably had bits of food still in them from the Taste.
